Explorer Scouts, the fifth section of the Scout movement.

Explorers are encouraged to take more responsibility for arranging their programme and planning their events.

In this Section Explorers can work toward their Chief Scout Platinum, Chief Scout Diamond or Queen’s Scout Awards by completing rural expeditions, working in the community, and participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

As well as taking part in weekly meetings, we also do activities such as hikes, climbing and camps. They can also work towards other challenges such as Nautical Skills, Aviation Skills, Pioneering, or Science and Technology badges. As a Unit they may participate in events such as Gilwell 24, The London Monopoly Run or Winter on the Hills.

In Hull, Explorer Scouting is provided by the Districts at a number of locations. The Wellies Explorer Scout Unit are based in the West of Hull and we provide an excellent opportunity for Scouts from Troops all over Hull to meet, share skills and interests, and make new friends.

Explorer Scouts can also choose to take part in the Young Leader Scheme, where they assist the leaders of the younger sections (Beavers, Cubs & Scouts). For more information please talk to the Explorer Scout Leader who will assist you further.
